The John Suddards Memorial Fund has been established by the parishioners of St Nicolas, Witham with the support of John’s family, the parish of Thornbury and the Diocese of Chelmsford with the aim to ensure that something positive results from John’s tragic death.
John was a good and godly man who had a great understanding of the suffering of others, and therefore the primary aim of this fund is to offer help and support to society’s more vulnerable, people for whom John’s door was always open.
The John Suddards Memorial Fund will partner with the homeless charity Emmaus in creating homes, work and opportunities for homeless people to rebuild their lives in supportive communities around the UK. Our ultimate aim, if enough funds are raised, is to establish a new Emmaus house in John’s name.
A second passion of John’s was early Christian writings and Christian learning in general and therefore the John Suddards Memorial Fund will also look to support ecclesiastical scholars and those studying for ordination, with the books needed for their studies.
